Line combinations

What a club has actually been playing, over the window you choose. Pick a team, a span — last game, last three, last ten or the season — and a strength, and the forwards and defence pairs that were on the ice together come back with their shared time, shot attempts, shots on goal and goals, both directions.

The units are found, not assumed. Every shot carries the skaters who were on the ice for it, so a combination here is simply whoever was out together — which means the shapes come from the club rather than from a rule. Even strength settles into three forwards and two defencemen; a power play run with four forwards and a single defenceman shows up that way; the kill comes back two and two. Where a club does something unusual you see the unusual thing, and any unit that is not the expected size is tagged with its size.

For and against are from your club's side. A shot is recorded against the strength the shooting team was on, so a power-play attempt by one side is a shorthanded attempt allowed by the other. Picking power play gives you your attempts on the man advantage and the shorthanded rushes you gave up on it; picking penalty kill gives the mirror.

Season-long even-strength units, ranked league-wide rather than by club, live on Line & Pair Analytics. Projected deployment for the season ahead is on Projected Lines.
